The railway and cycleway complement each other. In other parts of the country similar developments have taken place to the mutual advantage of both transport forms. Many people now walk or cycle one way and return by train, provision can be made for the transportation of cycles.
A huge boost to tourism. In Derbyshire, a similar sized town toTorrington has seen an increase in footfall to the area and the income generated is estimated at £1.5m.
New businesses have developed to support the railway, with visitors stopping in local accommodation, eating at local pubs and restaurants.
Local bus companies have become involved, and laid on new services. People now travel to the area, who would not have come otherwise, they are stopping for a few days and exploring the area.The number of walkers/cyclists have likewise increased.
